Our Middle Sub-School comprises of Years 9 and 10. It is designed for students to experience a broad range of learning areas and experiences to develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will prepare them for any possible future, whether that be vocational, academic or a blend of the two. They also prepare for the senior years of schooling where our students further shape their futures and journey down their chosen pathway. Here at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, we are committed to supporting each one of our students in pursuing their passions, interests, and curiosities. Our expert careers and pathways team works with a high degree of dedication to ensure that at upon leaving the college, students leave as successful, qualified, and confident young citizens, who are best placed to venture further along their chosen pathway of further education, training, or employment.
Our Year 9 Program engages with a focus on relationships and high expectations. Each student participates in their regular core subjects and our Pathways Program.
In addition to regular core subjects, each student can study a variety of pathway subjects over the course of Year 9. These subjects allow students to start tailoring their studies to personal interests and their future career pathway. A wide selection of elective subjects in the areas of the Arts, Physical Education, Humanities and Technologies are offered. These options are outlined for students in the Year 9 Handbook and via the extensive course counselling process.
Along with completing their final year of the Victorian Curriculum in their core subjects, our Year 10 students take the opportunity to choose specific subjects within the learning areas of Technology, Art, Health & Physical Education and through the choice of another elective subject that can propel their future interests. We have also developed a Vocational Pathway Program that students can apply for.
