What is this? This is a government grant that has enabled KWRSC to build a new building that incorporates a large amount of ICT, both for students' use and teaching instruction. The new building looks somewhat like our Library and has been built out on the back soccer field, the corner closest to the Primary school. The grant also allowed for forty teaching staff to be trained in recognising student learning styles, teaching styles, writing new and innovative projects for their students and their development of ICT skills. Students and teachers have access to the 25 laptops and various software programs which are used inside the building. Soft furnishings including novelty bean bags have encouraged a positive learning environment. Students and teachers enjoy using the area. Currently the Fertile Learning questioning technique is being implemented where six styles of questions are asked and possible solutions designed by students. Fertile questions are divided in six styles called Open questions, Undermining questions, Rich questions, Connected questions, Charged questions and Practical questions. Each type of question is asked of students and solving them can be quite difficult as there is no one right answer. This allows for students to be successful members of our community and to open their minds to differing opinions and research. Past questions have included: How does this work?, Road trip – where will you go?, What is the News?, How do we survive? Units are design collaboratively with teachers and then developed with student negotiation.
