Infomation Nights

A formal information session for Year 6 students and their parents/guardians is held each year in May.   At any time, a prior phone call will ensure a guided tour of the College and an interview to discuss enrolment. Please contact Miss McGinley, Assistant Principal, for further information.

INFORMATION NIGHT FOR STUDENTS ENTERING YEAR 7 IN 2010

Kooweerup Secondary College will be holding its annual Curriculum Expo and Information Night for Grade 6 students and their parents/guardians on Wednesday 29th April 2009. Information brochures will be available and supper is provided.

Tours of the college will be available from 6.00pm. Appointments are not required; just meet the staff at the main entrance of the front building.

The formal part of the evening will commence with a welcome from the Principal. Throughout the evening students, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to hear about our curriculum programs, facilities, extensive co curricular activities and special issues such as school buses, scholarships and the S.E.A.L. program. There are interactive displays and students, parents and guardians will be able to meet secondary teachers and students and ask questions.

Kooweerup Secondary College is the smallest government secondary college in the area and the college believes that positive, friendly relationships are essential for creating an effective teaching and learning environment. VET and VCAL courses are offered in the Senior School and our curriculum has been enhanced by the introduction of new subjects like Dance, Fashion and Glass.

The college is also pleased to offer the Select Entry Accelerated Program for gifted students. This program allows students to complete Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 in three years. The selection process will be explained on the night and application forms will be available.

The college is well known for its instrumental music program. Music tuition is free and students have the opportunity to join the junior band, the senior band, the stage band or the touring band according to their level of expertise. The Performing Arts program also includes the annual Music Festival and Musical and the newly introduced rock bands and aerobics teams.

Over the last five years there has been ongoing refurbishment of the facilities with new Science rooms, the construction of new Woodwork and Textiles rooms, a new Library and a Performing Arts Centre. Work has recently been completed on a refurbishment of the main administration block, student facilities for lockers and toilets and the construction of a new Food Technology Centre which includes a commercial kitchen for VET Hospitality students. The college was also successful in obtaining funding through the Leading Schools Program and a new purpose built Integrated learning Centre for junior students was constructed in 2006.

The College looks forward to meeting all prospective students and their parents/guardians at the Expo and Information Night. There is ample off street parking next to the hall. For further information please contact Leonie McGinley, Assistant Principal, on 59971444.
